Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty can be performed on men and women of almost any age, but it is usually recommended that young people wait until facial growth is completed, usually about 13-15 years of age. Rhinoplasty is used to correct numerous nasal deformities, including but not limited to bump or depression on the nasal bridge, a nose that appears to large or too wide, a nasal lip that droops or plunges, or a nose that has been altered due to an injury. Rhinoplasty can also be done to correct a nose that makes it difficult to breathe.

The technique used in the surgery will depend on the desired results that you want to achieve. Incisions may be made inside the nostrils only or outside as well. Working through these incisions the nose framework of bone and cartilage is sculpted to the desired shape. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete, after which you will recover for about 2 hours. Nasal packing may be placed which will stay in about 2 days and a splint on the nose for 1 week. You will also have a nasal drip pad under your nose to collect any drainage from your nose. Bruising and swelling are to be expected and may last about 2 weeks. Keep your activity to a minimum for the 2 to 3 weeks. After 6 weeks you can resume most normal activities.

Pre operative lab work will be performed and possibly an EKG and/or chest x- ray. All these tests are included in the price of your procedure.

It is normal to feel a bit anxious while you are healing, but be patient.

While you may see definite changes in your appearance immediately after surgery, as each month passes you will notice gradual improvement until healing is complete. It takes a minimum of 6 months for all of the swelling to be gone.
